Hello there! My name is Chloe, I am a second year Social Work student studying to get my Bachelor’s degree. I aspire to get my Master’s degree in social work and solve every grand social challenge in the world! Okay…maybe that’s a bit unrealistic, but I do hope to support and help as many children, families and communities I can in one short lifetime.
For fun I like to listen to music, embroider, take photos, and volunteer. I recently moved to New York City and quickly had to adjust to this fast pace, loud, overpopulated new lifestyle. Although it is a massive change from back home (Eastern Long Island), I find there is so much to do, so much to see, and many new relationships to form.
Compared to Long Island, living in the city has allowed me to experience things I never have before. Living in such a diverse community opens the door to different cultures, traditions, and sensations, and I am truly grateful for that. Sometimes though, it isn’t all great. There isn’t a day that goes by where I do not see an individual experiencing homelessness, an individual dependent on substance use, an individual living a life so different from my own. Although at times humbling, it is painful to see. My heart hurts. I want to help each and every one.
I used to think that my life had no purpose. Social work has given me a purpose. I am so tired of how wrongly systems are run and the incredibly large amount of individuals that are negatively affected because of it. For that, I hold my work accountable for the people who are systematically forced to battle daily to live a life of equality, comfort, and interconnectedness. I will fight to hear, to listen, and to let speak the voices that have been crying out for centuries.
